CI Cardiac Index
To make different patient’s parameters homogeneous and comparable, the Indexed values are adopted, which are referred to the patient’s size.
Specifically the most significant parameter relating the metabolic need to the patient’s size is the Body Surface Area BSA, which can be estimated from the patient’s height and weight (typical values for BSA in adults 1,3 – 2 m2).
Indexed values have narrow ranges and offer more immediate information on patient’s conditions.
